About mokume-gane technique

Mokume-gane - translated as wood eye metal - is an ancient Japanese technique that fuses alternate layers of precious metals into one compact block which is then worked to reveal spectacular organic patterns.

Developed in 17th-century Japan by master metalsmith Denbei Shoami and initially used for embellishing samurai swords, Mokume-gane gradually migrated towards jewelry where the unique patterns and finishings are best shown.

The metals used are various colors of gold - white, red, yellow - palladium, silver and precious allies, depending on the effect needed. The mokume-gane pattern is different every time thus the results are unique pieces of jewelry. This makes the technique particularly suitable for wedding bands as it symbolises the uniqueness of each relationship.
